We will begin a new series of sermons this Sunday morning. After over two years in the Gospel of Luke, it makes sense that these sermons will focus on life in Christ. After all, the call of Luke’s Gospel is to follow Jesus. Therefore, we will begin by talking about the spectacular reality of our union with Christ. In other words, when the New Testament writers say that a Christian is “in Christ,” what does that mean? The answer, at least in short, is that a Christ-follower has been born again, given peace with God, and promised an eternal future of unimaginable blessing. The beauty and scope of this truth is remarkable and, I believe, under-taught. Every follower of Jesus should know of God’s awesome grace in uniting him or her to Jesus. From there we will talk about some of the public and outward expressions of those who are in Christ; namely baptism and the Lord’s Supper. I’m really looking forward to these messages.
After laying the foundation of life in Christ, we will study some of the practical implications of walking daily with Jesus. We will hear sermons on wisdom, generosity, and trusting God as we pursue holiness. All of these messages will come under the banner of Walk: Sermons on Life in Christ. It will be a short, six week series that I’m confident will be a great introduction to the Gospel, the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the beauty of fellowship in the local church, and the pursuit of every Christian to continually grow in Christ. If you have friends or family members who do not know Jesus or are not part of a Jesus-centered church, please invite them to be a part of this series. I am excited to be together this Sunday as we honor mothers and celebrate Jesus. See you Sunday!
