During the time when we are unable to meet together in larger groups we will be using a video-conferencing software called Zoom. Here are some tips and instructions for using Zoom:
Joining a call:
To join a Zoom call you simply click on the link provided. (For example: https://zoom.us/j/243662555) you may be prompted to download Zoom to your computer or device. Once you confirm the download and run the installation Zoom will be setup on your computer. This installation process only needs to happen once. Any Zoom call you join after that should be much quicker to load.
Participating in a Zoom call:
There’s a few good tips to keep in mind:
The toolbar is located along the bottom of your screen and has two important controls:
Mute will mute your microphone and prevent anyone from hearing background noise when you’re not speaking. Generally, it works best to mute your microphone when not speaking. This can be done by simply clicking the button on your toolbar. The button next to it will let you turn on your video camera so that other participants can see your face. If you have a device equipped with a webcam you can turn this on.
To get the best sound possible on a Zoom call it works best to be in a quiet room without much background noise. Additionally, it is helpful to wear headphones so as to reduce any feedback between participants on the call.
Our hope is that this software allows us to communicate well with one another, and even if we cannot be in person we can still see each other face-to-face. If you have any troubles or issues setting up zoom call the church office and we will do our best to assist you.
