Jonah 1-A Life Open to God

By June 7, 2015Church News

Dear church,

This past Monday night, the congregation affirmed the proposal to hire an Associate Pastor to serve our church as a generalist pastor and lead in the area of worship. The next step toward hiring this Associate Pastor is for the Elders to select a search committee to be voted on by our members. This will be done over the coming weeks, likely with a short special meeting following a service to vote on the nominated participants. Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance for the Elders as well as the man God will call to serve as our Associate Pastor.

This Sunday, we will return to the book of Jonah. We last left Jonah tired and vulnerable on the deck of a storm-ravaged ship. For at least another couple of weeks, this is how he will stay. Though we’ll see him get thrown from the boat this Sunday, he still cannot escape the omnipresence and sovereignty of God. Have you ever tried to run from God in despair? Do you feel that time of rebellion ruined you for future usefulness in ministry? This is what Jonah fears, but it is not true. The good news of Jesus assures us of forgiveness for sin and favor from God. In Christ, you are made free and God can use you to spread the Gospel to others.

For the sake of His name,

Pastor Adam
