Holy Week Devotional

By April 4, 2014Church News

Dear church,

Though Easter is still two weeks away, this Sunday we begin our preparations in earnest. We will be in Luke 23:1-25 this week. By the end of the chapter, Jesus is sentenced to death, beaten, crucified, pronounced dead, and buried. This week as we focus on His sentencing and dismissal before Pilate and Herod, we will talk about the righteousness of Christ and the grace of God in counting His righteousness as ours. This is an important truth and one necessary for any person to be saved.

We will also begin distributing our Holy Week Devotional this week. I am so pleased with how it turned out! Men and women from our church have prepared seven meditations considering the last words of Jesus’ life. The purpose of this devotional is for you to read one meditation a day beginning on Palm Sunday, April 13 in order to prepare your heart and mind for Easter. There is also a wonderful companion guide for families with children containing daily questions and some helpful, simple activities. This will be a tremendous resource for our church family and our personal worship during that week. I hope you will make good use of it.

See you Sunday! These are prime Sundays to invite friends who need to hear and believe the Gospel. Pray and consider who you might invite.

For the sake of His name,
