Shortly after this message arrives in your inbox your elders will gather together for a time of prayer, discernment, and planning for the future. Following our Friday night meeting, the Ministry Team (elders, staff, and ministry commission directors) will convene for our annual leadership retreat all day Saturday. Each year this is an important weekend in the life of our church and for our direction moving forward. This is a crucial year as we approach the final third of Three50. Two years ago, we began hoping and praying for 50 conversions and 50 short-term missionaries by the end of 2014. As you may know, we’ve already sent out 53 missionaries and I am excited to tell you God has seen fit to use members of our church in saving 27 people. What a remarkable answer to prayer this is!
As you can see from these numbers, we have reached our missionary goal and have a strong vision for even greater efforts in that area. However, if we are to reach our goal in conversions, we will need to do more. Make no mistake, it is God who gives the gift of faith in Jesus, but the most common way He works to save is through the testimony and ministry of Christians. Toward that end, it seems apparent that we should ask Him to give us a greater heart for the lost and a deeper desire to see the people around us saved. That desire and specific steps toward achieving this goal will be a major focus of our time Saturday. We would covet your prayers.
Would you take a few moments, right now, and pray for our elders, our staff, and our commission directors? Here are a few areas to concentrate on:
1) Pray that we would be unified in our desire to declare the supremacy of God and strengthen His Church.
2) Pray that our hearts would be burdened in a deeper way for the lost and perishing around us.
3) Pray for wisdom and guidance from God’s Word in finishing the Three50 Initiative strong.
4) Pray that the plans we make would be focused and purposeful, but held lightly, because our greatest desire is to do God’s will.
Thank you for praying! We are blessed by it and will be excited to roll out many of the plans made in the coming weeks and months. I look forward to seeing you in church this Sunday. It will be a great day to celebrate the provision of God in strengthening followers of Jesus and we study Luke 22:35-38 together. See you there!
For the sake of His name,
