Happy Thanksgiving

By November 28, 2013Church News

Happy Thanksgiving church,

I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
– Psalm 9:1

This is an exciting time of year. In addition to entering into the Advent season where we expectantly await the Second Coming of Jesus, we faithfully and hopefully look toward the future in the life of our church. Specifically, we select many men and women to serve and lead in various capacities as well as consider a General Fund operating budget. In both of these decisions, we are asking, “How can we best glorify God and spread a passion for Him in this area?” That is a significant question and one that should not be taken lightly. Accordingly, the nominating committee and the elders have attached a ballot of elected and appointed positions and the 2014 proposed operating budget, respectively, to this letter. I want to thank each of these groups and others who spent many hours preparing these for our church family.

Please take the time to review these documents and, should you have any questions, seek out an elder for clarification. If you would like a paper copy of either of these documents, they will be available at the Information Center for the next two weeks. In preparation for our December 9th Members’ Meeting, the elders will host a Q & A session with elder candidate Marc Revoredo on Monday, December 2nd at 7:00pm in the Youth Room. Following that session, at 8:00pm, we will host a budget forum for discussion and questions regarding the proposed 2014 operating budget. The purpose of these opportunities is to prepare our members for well-informed, timely voting on Monday, December 9th.

This Sunday, we will begin a four-week study of the prophet Micah. Micah lived during a time when self-sufficiency and economic prosperity drew people away from worshiping God. He spoke of God’s judgment toward the people, but promised that God would save and redeem those who trust in Him. It’s a timely message for us, especially during the Advent season. I hope you will make it a priority to be in corporate worship each of the next four weeks to hear this word from God, but also to nurture your soul during this important season of waiting and longing. They will all be great, hope-filled Sundays.

For the sake of His name,

Pastor Adam
