1 John 2:12-17 – October 4th

We will have our first Sunday Night Gathering this Sunday from 6-7pm. These informal services will take place on the first Sunday of each month that does not have a Members’ Meeting. We envision these services taking on more of a family feel. Compared to Sunday mornings, they will be simpler, shorter, and more focused on our life together as a church. Sunday Night Gatherings are not meant to replace Sunday morning services; they will be complementary.

In addition to singing, praying, and hearing a shorter reflection from the Word of God, Sunday Night Gatherings will also include some time for questions and answers. The Elders hope this time will serve the members of the Our Saviour family by creating more spaces to talk about important theological and spiritual issues as well as hearing from me about church vision and direction. To accomplish these goals, we will put a few guidelines around the Q & A time.

  1. At least one question must focus on a theological or doctrinal issue. This may include something that has come up in your personal Bible study, a question a coworker asked, or something you wish to teach your children about.
  2. We will limit any questions, resulting answers, and follow-up questions to five minutes on a given topic. This will help us cover a range of questions and prevent one idea or issue from dominating the time.
  3. Each person will be asked to limit themselves to one question. Our hope is to encourage several people to ask questions important to them.

These Sunday Night Gatherings will be a great time of community for our church family. They will also give us more opportunities to develop leaders, hear from one another, and worship God together. I hope you will be a part of this first one, especially. Bring your questions! The time will be well worth it. I look forward to seeing you at 6pm this Sunday evening.
