The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13, “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.” John agreed with Paul. When questions arose about who true followers of Jesus were, John wrote that we should look at who loves their brother. Those who walk in light and know truth will love others.

Sunday we will study 1 John 2:3-11. There John says that along with light comes love. If you walk in light, you will walk in love. Conversely, if you do not walk in love, you may lack assurance that you are in Christ. Remember, the purpose of 1 John is to assure Christians of their salvation through Jesus Christ and point us toward hope in Him. Let’s be a church known for our love; love for God, love for one another, and love for those around us. In doing that we will testify to all God has done for us in Jesus and share the good news of salvation from sin through Him with a dark and lost world. It’s important that we come together every Sunday morning to praise God and encourage one another to walk in love. I hope you will be in church this Sunday.
