Next DOS Starts February 9

By January 31, 2014Church News

Dear church,

Beginning Sunday, February 9th and continuing on the 16th (from 9:15-10:05am during the Education Hour), my fellow elders and I will lead the Discovering Our Saviour class. If you have not been a part of this group before, I suggest you join us for these sessions. The class is a formal introduction into the purpose, commitments, and life of our church family. It also serves as the first step toward joining in covenant membership. Whether you are newer to the church or have been a part of this local fellowship for many years, the time will be beneficial.

If you have recently come to Our Saviour, this class is a great opportunity to connect with leadership and talk in greater detail about what our heart beats for and who we believe God is calling us to be as a local church. If you have made Our Saviour your church home, but have not joined in covenant membership, I want to strongly encourage you to do so. Among the many biblical reasons to join a church, I will quickly highlight three for you. First, God is glorified as His Church is built (Matthew 16:18). Secondly, when we covenant together as followers of Jesus we are better able to support, encourage, and admonish one another in Christ (Hebrews 10:19-25). Finally, the Bible says that when churches function as they were intended to, it will cause people to glorify God and come to know Jesus (1 Peter 2:12). There are more biblical reasons I could highlight to join a local church, but as I see those above, I am confident in saying even one of them is reason enough. If you have not taken this important step, make it a priority to be a part of the class in the coming weeks.

This Sunday we will talk about the power of God even in the midst of the most egregious sin of all time. We will also celebrate His promise to protect and persevere all those who are in Christ. By God’s grace, it will be a powerful Sunday. I hope you will be there.

For the sake of His name,

Pastor Adam
