Yes, We’re There

By August 30, 2012Church News

Dear church,

Fall (yes, we’re there) is an exciting time in the life of our church. Sunday, September 9th is our big kick-off. That morning our discipleship classes for adults, students, and children begin with Pathways for adults, Common Ground Sunday School for students in 7th-12th grades, and Adventure Club for children 2 years old-6th grade. After the discipleship hour, we’re hosting a Three50 Fiesta with a full taco bar, updates and testimonies from our Three50 Initiative, and time to reconnect with one another after a busy summer. It will be a great day to invite friends, neighbors, and family to experience the love and hospitality of Our Saviour. Begin to think and pray now about who you would like to invite.

One of the other things that happens in our church during this season is the planning and preparation for our next year of ministry. It’s a time to come together, seek God’s will, and collectively ask ourselves, “How is God calling us to step out in faith and trust Him to reach the lost, disciple growing Christians, and expand the ministry of our church for the glory of God?” This is both a time to pray and a time to dream. Already we have begun to formulate our 2013 budget. This is not tedious work, but one of the foundational needs for our work of Gospel ministry. Please pray for this process. Another key aspect of this preparation is assembling our Nominating Committee which meets together to discern God’s will for the leadership of many important positions in our ministry strategy.

This year, in accordance with our church constitution, the elders are putting four men and four women candidates forward to serve as members of the Committee, along with Mark Koerlin, an Elder and our Church Chairman, and myself as Senior Pastor. The four men are: Everett Brown, John Melander, George Pach, and Marc Revoredo. The four women are Lauren Alvarado, Kim Bush, Janie Schaumburg, and Cheryl Witucke.  From the eight men and women offered as candidates, it will be the task of the membership to prayerfully consider who should serve on the Committee. At the members meeting on Monday, September 10th, a vote will be taken in which all members in proper standing will select three men and three women. The three men and three women who receive the most votes will serve on the Committee. Please know that the elders consider each of these candidates to be well-suited and well-qualified to serve in this way.

There are more exciting things coming. Some of the things we will implement this fall have been in the works since the spring and some before that. However, more than strategies or initiatives, I am excited to begin another fall season worshiping our glorious God with you, serving alongside you in ministry, and loving you as your pastor. This past Sunday marked my one-year anniversary as pastor of Our Saviour and while I always want to be busier moving forward than looking backward, I have been blessed to spend a few moments here and there remembering and praising God for all He has done in our midst over the past year. Our Saviour is an exciting church to be a part of. God is moving among us and I look forward with great anticipation to all He will do for His glory in this area and around the world! I love to be your pastor. I love this church. To God be the glory forever!

For the sake of His name,

Pastor Adam
